Bliss describes this sculpture perfectly. My mother said the little girl
looks the way I did as a child so I suppose you could say it is a
self-portrait. When I built the piece my intention was to express the
sort of blind trust and sense of adventure that children have.
Often I feel that anything is possible if you simply believe that it is.
The feeling of freedom expressed in this piece mirrors the way I feel
when sculpting, abandoning all fear. My nieces Ali and Katy
remind me of the beauty in everyday adventures and I dedicate
this piece to them. Thanks to my model, beautiful Sara Hyten.
